The fund has the goal of “building wealth” in Indigenous communities in the Upper Plains.

Residents in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, can begin applying Friday.

Applications will close on April 24 at 5 pm. Grants will either be for $25,000 or $50,000.

“The Collective Abundance Fund is an opportunity for families to use money to establish long-term stability, as a healing tool for sustaining lifeways and livelihood, and as a way to build on the abundance of our culture, knowledge, and the assets around us,” NDN managing director Gaby Strong said.

Last year, 200 residents received a total of $7.9 million.

To be eligible for the grant, a person must be part of the Indigenous community and be residing in either of the three states.
